Alright, since I haven't posted in a while I expect you all to think long and hard about this :P

Is everyone redeemable in HP?

If yes- in what way?

If no- why not?

I saw somebody else make a comment about this subject the other day, and it got me thinking.

Harry was a Horcrux, as we all know. A bit of Voldemort's soul resides in him, and got destroyed in the 7th book when Harry got Avada Kedavra-ed by Voldemort himself.

Now I'm wondering, why didn't the Horcrux in him get destroyed when the Basilisk bit him in the chamber of secrets?

Did Harry's body need to die for it to die, too? Because on the diary it had an immediate effect. Or was Fawks too fast with healing Harry?

Any thoughts?

ETA: I've found my answer, but please feel free to still discuss might it interest you.

I agree with the other commenters that Harry would have had to die for the Horcrux to be destroyed. Fawkes's healing powers were too fast for that.

But I don't think it would have had to be Voldemort who killed Harry. Dumbledore only says so because of the prophecy but not because of how the magic of the Horcruxes works. Nagini was killed by Neville, and the Horcrus destroyed. I am pretty sure if Harry had died in Book 2 from the Basilisk poison, the Horcrux would have been gone, too.

I've recently posted a poll survey at [info]hp_love_anon. We're thinking about starting our HP Fandom Pimping Meme and it would be an amazing help for us if you'd answer it and let us know of your expectations.

Poll is here, please give it a minute and fill it out :)
Pretty, pretty please! *bats her eyelashes*

Imagine a world that is often described in fanon.

The war is over and the Malfoys are still at least free and rich. Where they want Draco to marry well and continue the line. Where they never want to hear about Potter ever again..

In this world Draco goes against his family and dates Harry and somehow ends up preggers (yes in this theory mpreg works)

Do you think that Lucius would go bonkers and disown Draco or accept this?
What would his mother say?
And how do you imagine the dialouge to play out? How does Draco tell them? Is harry with? What does his parents say? etc

this is how a synical person might see the first Harry Potter movie

and this doesn't mean I don't like Harry, I do.. it's just something I've been thinking about a lot...

A giant burst into your hut and says you're a wizard

Harry's response: Alright

The giant tells you that you and your dead parents are heroes and they were assassinated by the darkest wizard ever around

Harry's response: Alright

The giant wants you to go with him

Harry's response: Alright

A woman you've never met tells you to run straight into a brick-wall

Harry's response: Alright

You meet another young wizard on the train that tells you that purebloods and especially Malfoy's are no good

Harry's response: Alright

You're also told that you don't want to end up in Slytherin because only dark wizards go there

Harry's response: Alright

You take all this knowledge and disses the most powerful kid in the school and therefore makes a nemesis. Then you beg not to get sorted into Slytherin in fear of that making you evil.

so question: Isn't Harry a little...gullible?

I mean.. He's just 11 years old. He believes a really strange story and goes with a stranger to a place he's never heard of. Don't we teach our kids to do the exact opposite? Hagrid could really have been anyone after anything. Harry can be glad he wasn't raped and murdered.

Secondly. What if going to Slytherin doesn't automaticly makes you evil? What if you could have done great in Slytherin? What if you'd learned something else there that would have won the war a lot earlier without as much loss?

I know we can't speculate in all of the "what if's" but I just feel that Harry was kinda thoughtless..

If you know anything about wand lore, or even remotely interested in it this might be a question for you.

Looking back at the start of Harry's first year, the sorting hat told him he would do well in Slytherin, looking at the end of his 7th year (or what should've been his 7th year) we see that that might've only been the case because of the part of Tom's soul in Harry. The sorting hat probably picked up on that and wanted to sort him into Slytherin because of that.

Now, again looking back at the start of 1st year, Harry buys a wand. We all know by now that The wand choses the wizard. Don't forget that the wand that scarred Harry, the wand that put that little piece of soul in Harry, was the brother wand of the wand Harry got.

So I've been thinking, maybe, now that that piece of Tom's soul is gone, does Harry's wand still work as well for him, won't he need a new wand, after all, it chose Harry because of Harry AND that bit of soul that was living inside of him. Maybe Harry's wand recognised Tom's soul, seeing as his brother was Tom's perfect match. It does seem a bit too coincidental to be only that.

What's your view on this?
